1893 cover sent registered to Lyon, France, with four Leeward Islands 1d’s (a single and a strip of three) and a ½d, correctly paying the 2d registration and 2½d postage. The stamps have been cancelled DOMINICA. A Portsmouth 21 DE 93 transit cancel is on the front of the cover, along with a London 11 JA 94 c.d.s. On the back is a Lyon arrival datestamp. No explanation as to why it sat in the postal system for three weeks in England before being sent to London from Portsmouth. An interesting commercial cover.
