1871 soldier’s letter to Whalthamstow, England, from No. 246, Pt George Lawrence, 1/24 Regiment, that has been countersigned by the Commanding Officer of the 1/24 Regiment to enable the Private to get the 1d concession rate. A Plate 135 1d red has been cancelled by a MALTA AU 21 71 ‘A25’ duplex canceller. On the back, which has part of the backflap missing, is a London SP 1 71 transit cancel.
