1865 folded outer wrapper (with the original letter enclosed) to London, endorsed ‘Via Marseilles’ but crossed out and ‘Via Suez’ written in, with a pair of 1d’s and two 4d all tied by barred B53 cancels. An oval Elias Malla & Co, Mauritius, forwarding agents h/s is on the front of the letter, along with a 5½d red accountancy h/s and a London Paid DE 5 65 arrival datestamp. On the back is a MAURITIUS NO 7 65 dispatch datestamp. Cover faults with a piece missing from the lower right corner, otherwise an interesting item with this combination of stamps and the 5 ½d accountancy mark.
