1827 folded letter to Calcutta headed Port Louis, Isle Maurice, 9 Janvier 1827, and endorsed at the lower left ‘pr Shaw in Shaw’ with a fine strike of the very scarce MAURITIUS / POST OFFICE h/s, the MURITIUS being in italic. (Proud PS 2) He records this used between 21.10 26 and 23.12.26. This extends the dates used by over two weeks. On the back is a two line’ Inld. Pd / Ship D’ h/s and a Calcutta 16 MAR 1827 arrival datestamp. A rare and most interesting letter.
