1885 2c post card to Moka, forwarded to St. Pierre, cancelled by a barred numeral ‘25’ with a ROSE HILL JU 5 85 dispatch cancel at the left. A Moka JU 5 arrival c.d.s. is on the front of the card and a Moka JU 6 cancel is on the back when forwarded. On the front of the card is the unique strike of the POST OFFICE ST. PIERRE provisional canceller with a manuscript JU 6 in the center. This h/s was believed in use from May 85 to March 87 when their other canceller was lost. (Proud D3, value x 200) This is the only known example of this strike, so a major Mauritius rarity. An extremely fine exhibition item.
