DINIZULU CAMPAIGN. 1907 ½d postal card cancelled GINGINHLOVO DE 5 07, written by a member of the Natal Carbineers, Zululand. He states ‘We are training at Sunkel’. In 1907 the Natal Government issued an arrest warrant for King Dinizulu for crimes, including treason, allegedly committed during the Bambata Rebellion the previous year. A large portion of the Natal Militia were mobilized to support the Natal Police in executing the arrest. Dinizulu surrendered and the Militia was disbanded within a month. Dinizulu was sentenced to 4 years in prison. This is one of only 10 items of mail recorded from this short lived (1 month) campaign. Minor card creasing but a very rare item.
