BOMBATA REBELLION. 1906 picture post card of the ‘Natal Medical Corps on Active Service’ posted from Johannesburg to London on 15 October 06. (The Transvaal sent a detachment of 500 soldiers to Natal to assist in this war) The Bombata rebellion broke out in April 1906 when Zulus revolted after the introduction of a £1 poll tax. Between 3000 and 4000 Zulus were killed. Gandhi personally led a detachment of 21 Indian volunteer stretcher bearers. A fine post card from this campaign.
