1943 censored stampless naval cover written by Mizutaro Soga, To, 2nd Unit, U68, Unit U66, c/o Yokosuka P.O. a soldier in the naval force at Nauru Island, marked ‘Gunji Yubin’ (Military Mail) & ‘Ken-etsuzumi’ (Censored). ‘U68’ was Nauru and Unit ‘U66’ was the 2nd Special Naval Landing Force of Yokosuka Naval Station which served in Nauru from 29th June 1943. This letter, the 6th in the Soga correspondence to his father, arrived in Japan on 1st February 1944 so was posted in October 1943. Soga says in his letter that ‘I send you 50 Yen from my salary with this letter. I hope that it will be useful for you. A scarce and interesting cover and letter from a soldier stationed at Nauru.
