1943 censored stampless naval cover written by Mizutaro Soga, To, 2nd Unit, U68, Unit U66, c/o Yokosuka P.O. a soldier in the naval force at Nauru Island, marked ‘Gunji Yubin’ (Military Mail) & ‘Ken-etsuzumi’ (Censored). ‘U68’ was Nauru and Unit ‘U66’ was the 2nd Special Naval Landing Force of Yokosuka Naval Station which served in Nauru from 29th June 1943. The letter arrived in Japan on 18th November 1943. Soga says in his letter that ‘It’s early spring now. I suppose that you all may be fine. Owing to you, I’m fine and serving for military duty. Please don’t worry about me. I’m going to do my best, according to your hope.’ A scarce and interesting cover and letter from a soldier stationed at Nauru, which was occupied by the Japanese in August 1942. It surrendered to Australian Forces on 13th September 1945.
