1888 cover to the editor of the Volkstem newspaper in Pretoria with a New Republic 2d on blue granite paper (SG 73) cancelled by a violet oval VRYHEID 12 JUL 88 datestamp, along with two Transvaal 1d’s that pay the rate inside the Transvaal tied by ‘11’ in concentric three ring circles of UTRECHT with a datestamp of JY 13 88 on the back. A Pretoria 17 JY arrival cancel is also on the back of the cover. A central filing fold well away from the stamps does not detract. A scarce cover.
