1866 cover to Edinburgh with a badly mis perforated 6d tied by a barred canceller. On the front of the cover is a scarce boxed ‘TOO LATE’ h/s, on the back are CHRISTCHURCH FE 14 66 dispatch and Edinburgh MY 19 66 arrival cancels. An embossed 'Cura et Industria' is on the backflap. This is the Walker Clan motto. This cover must have missed the ship (hence the Too Late h/s) as the time it took to get to Scotland was over three and a half months (94 days) The average time to England / Scotland then was around two months. An interesting and scarce ‘delayed’ cover.
