1851 letter to Auckland from Hokianga that has a red boxed ‘PAID AT / HOKIANGA’ cachet at the top. This h/s was used for letters that had been prepaid and a m/s ‘4’ denotes this payment. A partial Auckland receiving datestamp is at the upper right, on the back is a crown within oval HOKIANGA NO 3 dispatch cancel. Unfortunately there is damage at the upper right that extends to the back, but still a very desirable letter as this boxed Paid at Hokianga cachet is extremely rare.
