1944 6d on 1/- P.O.W. air letter card to Prison of War Camp Stalag VIII A, Germany, sent from DUNEDIN NORTH 11 SEP 44. The SIX PENCE overprint is 25mm (Scott & Startup Type 7, No. 2 in their listing.) A New Zealand Army Base P.O. 6 JU 45 datestamp is on the flap and an octagonal censor mark is above the flap slot. Due to the Germans removing P.O.W’s. from camps as the Allies advanced, much mail had not been delivered and was found and repatriated when the Allies occupied Germany. Fine and interesting.
