1944 incoming GB 3d Prisoner of War post card to Private Ben Gold, Borneo Camp, sent from HARROW 15 JY 1944. The card has a red British censor cachet on the front. This Japanese internment camp was called Batu Lintang, or Lintang Barracks. It was in Kuching (technically Sarawak) and was unusual in that it housed both Allied P O W’s and civilian internees. Of the approximately 2,000 British POWs held there, over two-thirds died during or as a result of their captivity. A very scarce card as few items have been recorded going into this camp.
