1941 censored cover to New Zealand with a 1d and ½d cancelled PITCAIRN ISLAND POST OFFICE 9 AUG 41. The cover has been opened and censored with both OPENED BY EXAMINER / PITCAIRN ISLAND. tape, typed in violet that has the censors’ initials (DS) and on the front a hexagonal crown ‘PASSED DDA/6’ h/s. Extremely fine and rare, very few examples are known of Pitcairn censor tape.
