G.B. WW II BOMBING. 1942 cover from Venezuela to Birmingham that has a three line cachet ‘DAMAGED AS A / RESULT OF / ENEMY ACTION.’ Between August 1940 and April 1943, there were 77 actual air raids on Birmingham. This double censored and charred cover would have been caught up in one of the 1942 air raids, damaged and then had the cachet applied. Fine and uncommon from Birmingham, most of the ‘Enemy Action’ covers usually being found from the south of England.
