1920 BALLARAT MAIL ROBBERY. An incoming cover to Ballarat with a 1½d tied by a POINT, VIC 8 AP 20 cancel that has been torn and partly removed when opened by burglars. The cover has tape at the top resealing it and an ‘Opened by / Burglars / P. O. Ballarat’ handstamp was struck tying the tape. A similar strike of this h/s is on the back. The cover has been opened for display to show both strikes of this extremely rare handstamp. An extremely rare cover, one of very few known from this incident.
