1871 outer wrapper to London endorsed ‘via Brindisi’ with two printings of the 6d yellow-green, paying 9d postage and 3d late fee, each stamp tied by a barre d ’QL’ canceller with a BRISBANE 1 NO 71 dispatch datestamp alongside. A London Paid 25 DE 71 arrival cancel is on the front of the wrapper. This cover was on the ‘P & O NUBIA’ that sailed from Sydney on 4 November to Melbourne, then via Galle, Aden, Suez and Alexandria to Brindisi. It was was on the last mail from Australia that went over the Brenner Pass and through Germany. An interesting wrapper with the 3d late fee and also with a Christmas Day arrival.
