1878 cover to London, redirected on arrival, endorsed at the top ‘Via Torres Straits & Brindisi, with a strip of four 2d tied by barred ‘78’ numeral cancels with a COMET SP 22 78 datestamp beneath. Rockhampton SP 23 transit and London NO 29 78 arrival cancels are on the back. Small part of the backflap missing but a good ‘proving’ cover for this numeral.
