1914 censored cover to San Francisco with a German Samoa 20pf overprinted G. R. I. 2½d cancelled by the German APIA (SAMOA) 25.9.14. datestamp. On the back is the very rare PASSED BY CENSOR / H. S. Harlock, Lieut. / Samoan Expeditionary Force label, which was only used for less than a month. The New Zealand Forces invaded and captured Samoa on 29 August 1914. This cover was posted less than a month after the invasion. Fine and extremely rare.
