WWI CAPTURED SHIP – KONINGEN REGENTES. A censored cover from the Netherlands to England that was carried on the Paddle Steamer KONINGEN REGENTES. She was intercepted by the German submarine UB-19, west of the North Hinder light vessel and escorted into Zeebrugge on 10 November 1916. On arrival in England the cover was censored and resealed with tape and a two line cachet applied ‘PART OF A MAIL CAPTURED / BY GERMANS AND DELAYED.’ before being sent to the recipient. A label was also attached asking the recipient to ‘Please return this letter to the Post Office as part of an official enquiry’. A fine strike of this cachet.
