  • £95.00

On 10th November 1916 the Dutch paddle steamer KONINGEN REGENTES was intercepted by the German submarine UB-19 west of the North Hinder light vessel and escorted into Ostend and then to Zeebrugge where it was released on 17th December. Mail considered unimportant was released by the Germans and returned to Holland. This cover from Holland was opened and censored by the Germans and only returned after the war ended and returned to Holland in 1919. On arrival in England a three line ‘Part of Mail / captured by the / Germans and delayed.’ was applied to explain the delay.
