MV CLARENVILLE. 1945 cover to St John, sent from Flowers Cove NO 25 45 with a triangular POSTAGE PAID G. P. O. h/s on the front applied after the (probably 2) 2c stamps were washed off in the incident.. The Clarenville was severely damaged and waterlogged when it collided with the S S Kelowna Park off Meer Point, Bay of Islands, Newfoundland on November 29th. All passengers and crew were saved by the Kelowna Park and taken to Corner Brook. This cover, when salvaged was also taken to Corner Brook where it was cancelled on the back DE 6 45. A straight line Salvaged Mail From M.V. Clarenville h/s was applied to the front of the cover. Very few covers are recorded from this incident.
