The stamps have been cancelled DOCKS, CAPE TOWN, 15 MAR 32 and a violet oval SHIPPING POSTMASTER CAPE TOWN 15 MAR 1932 cancel is alongside. (Dovey 14, Type 11 A clerk would go on board an arriving ship to facilitate a service to passengers who were on route to further destinations. They only accepted registered mail, cables and telegrams. These items were cancelled with the Shipping Postmaster cancels. A scarce cover with both this SHIPPING POSTMASTER cancel and the late fee.
