1883 cover to Otyimbingue, Walvich Bay, Cape of Good Hope, South Afrika, with a 1d, 8d on 9d and a 2d paying an 11d rate, cancelled WHYTE YARCOWIE MA 10 83. A London 23 AP 83 transit cancel is on the back and Cape Town MAY 17 and 18 cancels are on the back and front. Neither Otyimbingue or Walfish Bay had post offices in the 1880’s so no cancels from either of them. A most remarkable cover, possibly one of the earliest recorded into South West Africa and from a really rare origination.
