1915 censored ‘On Active Service’ post card to Cape Town with a boxed (F.P.O.) ’32’ 5 MAY 1915 cancel. A violet boxed ‘Passed By Censor No. 3.’ is at the top of the card. The card was written at KANUS on May 5th by Trooper H B Kenrick of the 22nd Mounted Brigade Train. Putzel says in his book that this F.P.O. opened at Warmbad on 10th April, and allocates the No. ‘32’ to Warmbad. As the distance between Kanus and Warmbad is 45 miles it is highly unlikely that it would have reached Warmbad and been cancelled on the same day it was written, so this is a good proving card for this number ‘32’ to have been in Kanus at that time. A very scarce numeral cancel.
