1927 envelope posted locally and addressed to Government House with a 1d cancelled by a rare violet three line CASTRIES / ST LUCIA / 19 MAY 1927. This was a temporary canceller that was used after the fire on May 14th that burnt down the post office, along with most of the town. Accompanying the cover is a copy of a letter on Government House headed paper dated 15 May talking about the fire. This was written by Major Mathews Donaldson and the envelope addressed back to him was her response to his letter. A rare cover.
