The cover has been endorsed at the foot ‘35th Sikhs’ and signed at the left L Bradshaw, Maj. For O.C. 35th Sikhs. Transit and arrival cancels are on the back. This was part of the Mahdist War and reconquest of the Sudan in 1896-1898. Indian troops were sent to Suakin to garrison the town and forts, relieving other troops for active participation. An interesting cover.
