1900 BETWEEN MICHIGAN & IOWA. A 1900 cover from Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Des Moines, Iowa, that was in a train fire, the back of the cover being quite scorched. Posted OCT 1, it arrived in Des Moines the following day, October 2. A straight line green ‘RAILROAD DAMAGE’ h/s has been applied as an explanation as to the damage. Rare, the only known cover from this train fire.
