CANADA. 1937 cover that was on the C.N.R. train No. 6 from Chicago to Toronto that was derailed at 12.52 p.m. on April 26 after torrential rain fell in Southern Ontario, bursting the dam at Woodstock and flooding the Thames River. The flood undermined the track and the engine and three cars, including the mail car, were washed away killing three people. This cover was damaged by water and the stamp washed off and a blue two line ‘DAMAGED BY WATER / DUE TO TRAIN WRECK’ cachet was applied. A very scarce cover from this incident.
