BRANTFORD, CANADA. 1951 cover to Bay City, Michigan, with a 2c cancelled Toronto DEC 21 1951, that was involved in a train fire on the Canadian National Railway’s train C P R No. 9 on the Toronto – London – Windsor service. The fire started in baggage car No. 8782, just east of Brantford, Ontario, on 23rd December. Recovered mail had a cachet ‘DAMAGED IN RAILROAD FIRE.’ There is also an explanatory label Both this and the cover are the ones illustrated in Hoggarth & Gwynn’s book. This cover still has the Christmas card it was conveying.
