1928 Official postal card from the U S Department of Agriculture from GROTON N. Y. MAY 23 28 to Ithaca, N. Y. that has a straight line cachet ‘RUN OVER BY TRAIN AT TUNKHANNECK’ Incidents like this happened infrequently when a malfunction on a ‘catcher’ (that allowed trains to collect mail when passing through a station without stopping), caused the bag fell under the train rather than being taken on board. Possibly the only recorded item from this incident. Fine and rare.
