1896 1d postal card to Switzerland cancelled by a purple SMITSDORP 27 NOV 96 datestamp with a similar strike at the upper left. A Pretoria 29 NOV transit cancel is also on the front of the card. South west of Pietersburg, Smitsdorp was established by gold diggers in 1887. A fine example of this canceller.
