1903 cover to a prisoner in the Johannesburg Prison, with a ½d cancelled FORDSBURG 28 MR 03. A violet triple oval JOHANNESBURG PRISON 25 APR 1903 dated cachet is on the front of the cover and a Johannesburg 28 MAR 03 datestamp on the back. Interesting that it took 28 days before the Prison acknowledged arrival of the cover and applied the cachet (probably before handing it to the prisoner). Fine, scarce and most unusual.
