1929 cover to Irene, Transvaal, South Africa, with a good strike of the C3 canceller and a London Paquebot 26 JU 29 datestamp alongside. The original letter, headed Tristan Da Cunha March 14th, 1929, accompanies the cover. The writer, Frances Repetto, complains of the worse crop of potatoes there has ever been due to the high winds. He also mentions there are 156 inhabitants on the island, 85 males and 71 females of which about 50 are children. A very fine and interesting item.
