1943 stampless cover to Cape Town with a violet triple circle TRISTAN DA CUNHA Type VI cancel. On arrival a CAPE TOWN PAQUEBOT 15 MAR 43 cancel was applied and 1½d tax mark struck. Mail from Tristan Da Cunha was taxed only at the postal rate, NOT double deficiency. A strip of three ½d bantam postage dues were affixed and cancelled CAPE TOWN 16 MAR 43. This was the only way a single strip of three bantam postage dues could be used non philatelically. Fine.
