1897 cover to Bishop Tucker in London, written by Rev. T.R. Buckley with his manuscript ‘T.R.B.’ initials at the lower left corner, that was privately carried from Kikuyu to Mombasa by the forwarding agents Bousted Ridley. The cover has a British East Africa 2½ Annas stamp and a Uganda 4 Annas, 1st Printing, top left corner position 1/1. (S.G. 58) A Mombasa AU 16 97 datestamp ties the two stamps. The 4Annas paid the internal section of the letter, the B.E.A. 2½ Annas paid the overseas rate to England. A fine and scarce cover.
