1897 cover to Archdeacon Walker’s stepsister in Yarmouth, England, carried privately by C.M.S. bags from Kikuyu by Bousted Ridley, the church’s forwarding agents, and then entering the postal system at Mombasa where a 2½a was applied and cancelled MOMBASA MY 22 97. This cover was written by Eleanor Browne, who was one of the first missionaries to arrive in Mengo in October 1895. Her initials are in the lower left corner with Gayaza 3. 97 to inform the agents whom to charge for postage. Fine and a very scarce missionary cover.
