1896 double rate cover to England with a strip of 5, a strip of 4 and a single ½a paying the 5a double rate, all the stamps across the top having the variety ‘second ‘z’ in Zanzibar small and raised’. The stamps have been cancelled ZANZIBAR 29 MAY 96. A Stony Stratford JU 14 96 arrival cancel is on the back. The addressee Miss Whitbread was a nurse in Zanzibar from 1892 - 1901. She would accompany invalided stakk home to England.
